In a family tree on Ancestry, the home person is the person whose family history is displayed by the tree and the person a tree goes to when the
home
button is selected. People usually make themselves the home person, but you can set anyone as the home person.
Assigning the home person
- Open a tree in the Ancestry app.
- In the top-left, tap your account profile (photo or letters).
- Under Manage tree, tap the tree name.
- If you’re set as "Who you are in the tree" and want to set yourself as the home person, toggle the Use as Home Person switch to green. To change “who you are in the tree,” tap the name listed and choose a new person.
If you’re not set as "who you are in the tree" or want to set someone else as the home person, toggle the switch to gray and tap Select home person.
Returning to the home person in your tree
To go to the home person in your tree, tap the
home icon
in the bottom right. If the home person button is grayed out, you're already on the home person.
