Upgrading your membership
How you upgrade your Ancestry® membership depends on where you bought it and who bills you. For example, if you subscribed through the Ancestry app, your payments may be processed by a third party, like the Apple App Store or Google Play.
If purchased on Ancestry (Ancestry-billed)
From a browser:
- In the top-right corner of Ancestry, click your profile icon and select Account Settings.
- Scroll to the Membership section, find the membership you want to upgrade, and choose Modify membership.
- Select how you want to modify your membership and click Continue.
- On the checkout page, review your changes and submit your order.
From the app:
- In the top-left corner, tap your profile icon.
- Under Settings, select Account or Account Settings.
- Under Membership, check who your membership is billed through:
- If billed through Ancestry, tap Manage next to the membership you want to change.
- If billed through a third party like Apple or Google, skip to the next section.
- Scroll to the Membership section, find the membership you want to upgrade, and choose Modify membership.
- Select how you want to modify your membership and click Continue.
- On the checkout page, review your changes and submit your order.
If purchased in the app (third-party billing)
Memberships bought in the Ancestry app are billed through third parties like the Apple App Store or Google Play. To upgrade your membership, you’ll need to follow their process. For help, select who you’re billed through below to visit their help center:
