When Ancestry Hints® show up for the wrong person in your tree, you can save them to the right person.
Saving Ancestry Hints® to someone listed in the hint
- Open the hint you want to save to someone else.
- On the record detail page, select the right person.
Can’t select the right person? Skip to the next section. - Select Save and choose Save to someone in your tree.
- If they’re in your tree: select a tree > start typing their name and select it from the drop-down menu.
If they’re not in your tree: choose + Add this to a new person > make any necessary changes > Save. - Select Attach.
- Compare the hint to your tree, checking boxes next to any facts or people you want to add.
- NEW: facts not yet in your tree.
- DIFFERENT: record facts that don’t match your tree.
- Select Save to your tree.
Saving Ancestry Hints® to someone not listed in the hint

- Write down any information from this record about the person you want to save it to.
Optional: Submit a record correction for any incorrect or missing details—this improves our records and can make this record easier to find. - Above the hint’s details, select the record collection title or locate that record collection using the card catalog.
- Search using the information you wrote down and open the matching record.
- Select Save and choose Save to someone in your tree.
- If they’re in your tree: select a tree > start typing their name and select it from the drop-down menu.
If they’re not in your tree: choose + Add this to a new person > make any necessary changes > Save. - Select Attach.
- Compare the hint to your tree, checking boxes next to any facts or people you want to add.
- NEW: facts not yet in your tree.
- DIFFERENT: record facts that don’t match your tree.
- Select Save to your tree.
