In a family tree on Ancestry, the home person is the person whose family history is displayed by the tree and the person a tree goes to when the home
button is selected. People usually make themselves the home person, but you can set anyone as the home person.
Assigning the home person
- From any page on Ancestry®, click the Trees tab and select a family tree.
- In the toolbar on the left, click More (three dots) and select Tree Settings.
- On the right side of the Tree Settings page, under Your home person in this tree, click choose or change.
- Start typing a name, then select it from the drop-down menu.
- If setting yourself as the home person, check the box and click Select. If you select this box, you'll see how each person in the tree is related to you when you go to their profile page.
- If you set someone else as the home person, you can still choose "who you are in this tree" from the Tree Settings page.
Returning to the home person in your tree
To go to the home person in your tree, click the home
icon on the left side. If the home person button is grayed out, you're already viewing the home person.
