In the Ancestry® app
Using light or dark mode will affect the appearance of the whole app, not just your tree(s).
- In the top-left corner of your screen, tap your profile icon (photo or letters).
- Under Settings, tap Appearance (iOS) or Theme (Android).
- Choose Light or Dark.
In a browser
All trees on your account have the same background color. Switching between light or dark mode will affect the appearance of all trees on your account, not just one.
From a tree
- In the toolbar on the left, click More (three dots) and select Tree viewing options.
- Choose to turn Dark mode "on" or "off." If necessary, click the down arrow next to Dark mode to expand the section.
- To use dark mode: toggle the switch “On” to the blue position.
- To use light mode: toggle the switch "Off" to the gray position.
From Tree settings
- In the top-right corner of Ancestry, click your name or username and select Account Settings.
- On the left, click Trees.
- Scroll to the bottom, and under Background color, click Color.
- Choose Dark or Light.
- Click Save.
