After you've registered your AncestryDNA test, you can change the name, date of birth, or sex assigned at birth, or gender representation associated with your DNA test. To change the name on your whole Ancestry® account, see Updating Your Name.
Changing your name, date of birth, sex assigned at birth, or gender representation
Changing the name on your DNA test doesn't change your name on the rest of your Ancestry account, and changing your gender representation in DNA doesn't affect how you appear in your tree. To appear gender neutral in a tree, select Unknown as your gender.
From a browser (like Firefox or Chrome) on your computer
- Go to DNA settings
- If you have multiple tests on your account, select the test you want to change.
- In the Test details section at the top, select your name, date of birth, assigned sex at birth, or gender representation.
- Make the changes and click Save.
From the Ancestry app on your tablet or phone
- Tap on your initials in the top left corner of your screen.
- Under Manage DNA Test, tap your name. If you have multiple tests on your account, tap Switch test then select the test you want to change.
- Tap your name, date of birth, sex assigned at birth, or gender representation.
- Make changes and tap Save.
