If you are experiencing errors on Ancestry® or if you have a membership that the site isn’t recognizing, you may be running security software (such as a firewall) on your computer that’s preventing full access to Ancestry.
Disabling security software
If you have security software running, temporarily disable it and see if the problem on the site disappears. In many cases, you can locate an icon for security software in the bottom-right corner of Windows or in the upper-right corner of a Mac. Click on the security software icon and select an option like Disable or Exit. If this doesn’t apply to your software, consult the instruction manual for that software or contact the software company.
If disabling the security software resolves the issue, turn your software back on and add an exception to your firewall for Ancestry.co.uk®. Contact the software company for help with this step if needed.
Enabling local storage
Problems on Ancestry that are caused by security software can also be caused by issues in your browser, so if disabling the software doesn’t resolve the issue, try enabling local storage in your browser.
