When you hide a match, they’re hidden from your match list, but you’ll still show on theirs unless they hide you too, or you turn off matching altogether.
If you don’t want to see or be seen by any matches, see Turning Matches On or Off. To block someone from contacting you, see Blocking Someone on Ancestry®.
Hiding matches
Hiding a match makes the match disappear for you, but you'll still appear on that match's list. You can unhide any match you hide.
- Find the match you want to hide.
- Next to them, select the three horizontal dots and choose Hide Match.
- To confirm, click Hide Match.
You’ll only see this match when using the hidden matches filter on your match list, or you choose to unhide this match.
Unhiding matches
If you want to see a hidden match again, you can use the hidden matches filter or unhide them at any time.
- Above your list of DNA matches, select Filter.
- In the opened side panel, select Hidden matches, and then Apply filters at the bottom.
- Next to the match you want to unhide, select the three horizontal dots and choose Show Match.
- To confirm, click Show Match.
You'll see this match in your match list and relevant groups again.
