This article is to help you find your AncestryDNA® results after you've registered your kit and returned your sample for processing. For help with something else, select what you want to do:
AncestryDNA® results are not mailed. To find your AncestryDNA results:
From a browser
Find my results (Or click the DNA tab and select Origins.)
- If your results are ready and you're signed in to the right account, you’ll see a page with your name and three sections: Regions, Journeys, and By parent.
Here’s what each section shows:
- Regions: the places around the world your DNA is connected to and where your ancestors likely lived thousands of years ago.
- Journeys: where your relatives might have lived or moved in the past 300 years.
- By parent: what you inherited from each parent–even if they haven’t taken AncestryDNA tests.
To see something else, above your origins results, choose a different tab:
- Matches: other AncestryDNA® members who share DNA with you. These are your genetic relatives. (You need to have matches turned on to get them.)
- Traits: personal characteristics influenced by your DNA, the environment, or both—like eye color, risk-taking, athletic ability, and more.
If these aren’t your results, sign out and sign back into your account, or check out Accessing Another AncestryDNA® Test on Your Account.
- If your kit is still being processed, you’ll see a progress bar with its current status.
- If you see an ad instead of your results (and you’ve already registered your kit), you might have another account. To switch accounts, sign out and sign in with a different email or username. If you need help finding other accounts, contact us.
- If you don't see your results or a progress bar, make sure you've registered your kit with the code that came with your DNA kit.
From the app
- Open the Ancestry® app and sign in.
- In the bottom right corner, tap DNA.
- If your results are ready and you’re signed in to the right account, you'll see a screen with tabs at the top and icons on the left.

Troubleshooting
Select a question below to view the answer. Select the question again to hide it.
Why are my results taking so long?
It can take up to 5 weeks for us to receive your sample and mark it arrived, and another 6 weeks after we receive your sample for your results to be ready. If you’ve registered your kit, it's been over 5 weeks since mailing it, and your DNA homepage doesn't show that we've received it, contact us.
How do I find results I’ve viewed before?
Some people have multiple Ancestry accounts. If you've viewed your DNA results in the past but can’t find them now, try signing out and signing back in with a different email or username. If you’ve forgotten your password, you can reset it.
If you need help finding other accounts, contact us.
I can't find results I've viewed before
Some people have multiple Ancestry accounts. If you've viewed your DNA results in the past but can’t find them now, try signing out and signing in with a different email or username. If you’ve forgotten your password, you can reset it.
If you need help finding other accounts, contact us.
Why are my results taking longer than other samples returned at the same time?
It's normal for DNA samples to be processed at different times—even if they were mailed together.
AncestryDNA kits must also be registered before they can be processed. If you’ve registered your kit, check back in a few days. If you still need to register your kit, register it with the code that came with your DNA kit. If you no longer have the registration code, contact us.
What should I do if I get a "You are not authorized to access this page" error?
If an email link led you to a page that says, "You are not authorized to access this page," you might be signed in to the wrong Ancestry account. Sign out of the Ancestry account you're in, and sign in to your account. Click the DNA tab, then select Your DNA Results Summary to view your results.
