A web browser is a program used to access the internet. Using a browser supported by Ancestry® and keeping it up to date helps pages you visit on Ancestry load and display properly.

If you're using a mobile Android device, consider downloading Ancestry’s free mobile apps from the Google Play store.
If you're using a mobile iOS device such as an iPad, iPhone, or iPod, consider downloading Ancestry’s free mobile app from the App Store.
Chrome (desktop and mobile)
Download the latest version of Chrome for your device. Chrome automatically checks for updates as new versions become available. You can also find your version of Chrome or update it manually. For help with Chrome, visit the Chrome support site.
Firefox (desktop)
Download the latest version of Firefox. Firefox should automatically check for updates and prompt you to install updates when they become available. You can also find your version of Firefox or update it manually. For help with Firefox, visit the Firefox support site.
Safari (on iPad or iPhone)
The Safari browser is considered a standard app by Apple and the iOS operating system should automatically update Safari on an iPad or iPhone if you have updates from Apple turned on. If the Safari browser has not been automatically updated, visit the App Store on your iPad or iPhone and check to see if a Safari update is available to download in the Updates section. What if my computer, phone, or tablet is too old to update to the latest browser version?
If you're using a computer or mobile device that's no longer supported by the manufacturer, consider switching to a device that's supported by the manufacturer.
Operating systems that are no longer supported by their manufacturer may be unreliable and unsafe to use. Certain features on Ancestry may also have reduced functionality or may not work when using an old or unsupported browser. We recommend following the manufacturer’s guidance for updating and maintaining your device.
